Types of Idaho County Court Records

Family and probate records can be partly public and partly restricted. Protection orders can be searched in iCourt when public, while juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and certain law-enforcement materials need careful access review.

What Idaho County Court Records Show
The iCourt public portal FAQ says public access includes litigant and party indexes, listings of new filings with party names, chronological case summaries, calendars or dockets of proceedings, case numbers, captions, hearing dates, hearing times, and hearing locations. Public status can be available for pending and closed cases. It also explains that public records are controlled by Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 and that public users do not receive private identifiers.

Idaho County Court Records Access Rules
For ordinary county records, Idaho Code section 74-102 presumes a right to examine and copy public records unless another statute makes the record exempt. Court records have a separate judicial access framework under Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32. In practice, iCourt gives public electronic case status and docket information, while case-file records may need a county kiosk or a request to the clerk where the case was filed.
Idaho County also uses a public-records request form for county records outside the court-case file process. The form cites Idaho Code sections 74-101 through 74-126, asks for requester information and a record description, and applies different response and fee rules based on Idaho residency. Idaho residents receive a three-working-day response and a free allowance for the first two hours of staff time and first 100 pages for unrecorded documents. Nonresidents may have a 21-day response window and charges from the first hour and first page.

Restricted Idaho County Court Records
Not every Idaho County court record is public. iCourt states that sealed cases and ICAR 32-exempt information will not appear on the portal. It also says sealed case event entries are not available for public inspection, although orders to seal that accompany sealed records remain public. The FAQ identifies redacted data such as Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, personal identification numbers, motor vehicle operator's license numbers, and financial account numbers.
Common restricted categories include juvenile matters, adoption files, sealed cases, expunged or limited-access criminal history, mental-health proceedings, protected financial data, and some guardianship or conservatorship material. Sheriff reports and investigatory records have another limit: the Idaho County Sheriff's Records Division requires a written request and says some information cannot be accessed while cases are pending adjudication through the courts. Idaho Code section 74-105 also protects certain law-enforcement and investigatory records from disclosure.

When iCourt returns no public result, the next step is not to assume the record does not exist; the matter may be sealed, older, restricted, or outside the online index.

Federal court records are separate from Idaho County court records, but the PACER CM/ECF court lookup shows the contrast for searches that leave the state system.
